Hey friends, sorry it’s been awhile since we’ve made a blog post, but we’re back- and just in time for all things fall! It might be pretty warm outside, but that hasn’t stopped big wooly sweaters, booties, and pumpkin spice everything from hitting the shelves in all the stores! The transition for fall doesn’t just apply to Starbucks, Target, and all other stores! In the salon, we start to see hair trends changing as well. Everyone wants to go darker or add the red hues, which is super fun but we want to give you a few tips on how to change your look without causing damage to your hair in the long run!
Oftentimes, we have clients come to us who want to a completely new look. Our recommendation is to ask for a demi-permanent color, not a permanent color, especially if you may want to lighten your hair color or change it again before too long. Demi-permanent colors generally last anywhere from 4-8 weeks and fade out, whereas a permanent color will last until it grows out. We also recommend Demi-permanent colors because they are much easier to correct if for some reason going darker doesn't turn out to be your cup of tea.
If a permanent color is used on your hair and then you decide to go lighter again, this can create damage or banding while trying to strip it to get it to the color you want!
Another option we often recommend for going darker is low-lights. Going darker doesn’t always mean all-over color change. Low-lights create depth and dimension and visually create a darker look for you.
We care about the overall health of your hair and if you are completely sure going darker is what you want and you know you won’t be wanting to change/ go lighter again anytime soon, then permanent color may be a good option for you!
We love fall, and all the hues and hair colors that come with it! When wanting to change your hair color for the fall, our biggest tip we can offer is this- Think about what you want long term before booking your appointment so that you can maintain the healthiest hair possible! Thank you all for taking the time to read this! Til’ next time!
